Mauricio De Almeida is a biomedical engineering senior research student in the Pain Research Lab at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. Since joining the Pain Research Lab in 2022, his research has mainly involved the phenotypic screening of hiPSC sensory neurons and astrocytes using MEAs, and testing these cells using various analgesics in order to establish a more high throughput in vitro pain model. He plans to continue pain research and explore other areas that involved the application of neural engineering.
