Northeastern University
Dr. Chiara Bellini is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair for Research and PhD Programs in the Department of Bioengineering at Northeastern University. The Bellini lab studies the cardiovascular outcomes of chronic exposure to environmental pollutants, including cigarette smoke, e-cigarette aerosol, and wildland fire smoke, with the goal of informing policies geared toward public and occupational health. Her research team also collaborates with clinicians to better predict the fate of thoracic aortic aneurysm. Dr. Bellini is the recipient of several awards from NIH, DHS, and private foundations. The American Physiological Society recently recognized Dr. Bellini for distinction in scholarship in the American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology. Prior to Northeastern, Dr. Bellini fulfilled her postdoctoral training at Yale University, where she focused on the biomechanics of thoracic aortic aneurysms. She received her Doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Calgary, after completing both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano.
