Nam Than is a Ph.D. student majoring in Biomedical Engineering at UT Austin and a Predoctoral Research Fellow at Cleveland Clinic. He previously obtained his MS in Biomedical Engineering at San Jose State University. With a deep appreciation for the intersection of engineering and biology principles, he is driven to develop cutting-edge technology to address complex clinical problems. Nam’s current research centers on modeling host-microbiome interactions using the innovative gut-on-a-chip. By recreating the intricate microenvironment of the human gut in a patient-specific manner, he aims to gain a firm understanding of the role of gut microbiota and probiotics in modulating intestinal homeostasis and dysregulations associated with inflammatory bowel disease.
