Mykel Green is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Tulane University. Prior to joining Tulane, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The University of Texas at Austin. His current research focuses on understanding the pathology of sickle cell disease and developing new technologies to address it. Mykel is particularly interested in integrating principles of health equity into engineering design within the biomedical engineering curriculum, aiming to promote academic success among students from historically excluded populations and prepare the next generation of socially conscious engineers. He earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from The City College of New York after graduating from Morehouse College with a degree in Biology. Mykel is actively involved in initiatives such as BlackinBME and the Society for Biomaterials Young Scientist Group. Beyond academia, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, exploring new destinations, and discovering diverse culinary experiences.
