Joey Liang is a current first-year medical student at Duke University School of Medicine. He received his Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from the University of Washington. His undergraduate research focused on discovering novel aptamers for SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics and therapeutics. He also previously researched the role of maternal antibody acquisition on host-microbe homeostasis in the gut microbiome. His current research interests include drug development and the development of novel diagnostic tools. He is also passionate about mentorship and creating initiatives that increase the accessibility of higher education.
