Biomedical Engineering PhD Student
Vanderbilt University
Nicole Malofsky is an NSF Graduate Research Fellow pursuing a biomedical engineering PhD at Vanderbilt University. Her Haselton Lab research aims to accelerate the development of global health technologies in a multidisciplinary research environment addressing the needs of patients and physicians in low-resource settings. Currently, Nicole is developing a screening test that identifies tuberculosis drug resistance using an internally-calibrated melt analysis approach.
During Nicole's bioengineering BS and MS from Lehigh University, her studies focused on biomaterials and biomechanics while her research targeted tissue engineering biomaterials and regenerative medicine. During her MS, Nicole developed biomaterial-based corneal implant technologies that aimed to eliminate the need for donor tissue.
Aside from her scientific endeavors, Nicole enjoys training for half marathons, cooking up crepes or eggplant parm, and spending time with her two kittens Violet and Olivia.
