BMES is one of 35 ABET member societies that set policy, develop strategy and conduct accreditation activities worldwide on behalf of their respective professions. As the lead society for BME/BioE accreditation, BMES charges the BMES Accreditation Activities Committee (AAC) with overseeing and managing the ABET relationship and the accreditation process as well as recruiting volunteers to conduct ABET reviews.
This session offers perspectives from ABET accreditation subject matter experts from the BMES AAC. Target audience is twofold: BME/BioE programs either considering seeking initial ABET accreditation or just wanting to keep up with changes in the accreditation process, and individuals interested in finding out more about how they can contribute to the BME/BioE profession by volunteering as an ABET Program Evaluator (PEV) in BME/BioE. Current BME/BioE PEVs will be invited to join the audience to share their perspectives on ABET BME/BioE accreditation. Prepared topics will include a general overview of the ABET BME/BioE accreditation process, how the BMES AAC fits into the process, and PEV roles and timelines. Informal discussions and Q&A will follow
