I am Nabila Masud, currently enrolled as a graduate student at Iowa State University. My research revolves around high-resolution imaging and the characterization of nanomechanical properties. I specifically focus on conducting force mapping on diverse substrates, ranging from rigid materials like graphene to delicate ones like biomolecules, proteins, DNA, RNA, and even living plant and animal cells. To achieve this, I utilize a unique research instrument that combines Bio-Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) with a fluorescence microscope, providing an integrated platform for my work. Moreover, I delve into analyzing single molecule interaction forces and binding kinetics. This involves investigating various ligand-receptor and protein-protein interactions. I achieve this by isolating these interactions on live cells using AFM techniques.
