Professor
Duke University, United States
Dr. Nenad Bursac is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Cell Biology, and Medicine at Duke University. During his PhD and postdoctoral work at MIT and JHU, he developed first mammalian engineered heart tissue models to study cardiac electrophysiology. Currently, Dr. Bursac’s lab studies striated muscle pathophysiology in 3D cell culture systems and develops novel cell- and gene-based therapies for cardiac and skeletal muscle regeneration. Dr. Bursac has authored over 130 publications and mentored over 70 trainees. He is a recipient of the Stansell Family Distinguished Research Award, a fellow of AIMBE and BMES, and an Associate Editor of Science Advances.
