My primary research focus is to study how spinal cord and brain circuits encode evoked neuromodulation in the treatment of neuropsychiatric conditions using functional ultrasound imaging (fUSI). To this end, I investigate generalizable data processing and interpretable machine learning tools that can be leveraged to decode neural corelates to neuro-modulatory functional changes from measurements of transient brain and spinal cord hemodynamic changes. The goal is to restore neurological function and quality of life for persons afflicted by nervous system disorder(s) as a bioengineer researcher – by leveraging inventive biosensing and imaging systems to study mechanisms and neural activity correlates to modulation.
