Dr. Shereka Banton is an Associate Director in Regulatory Affairs at Johnson & Johnson, a multinational pharmaceutical and medical technology company. She currently oversees the commercial regulatory affairs activities for her company’s surgical medical devices that are provided to patients and hospitals worldwide. Throughout her career, Banton has been focused on integrating biomedical research and public policy to reduce inequities in medicine and science. While majoring in biomedical engineering at Georgia Tech, Banton conducted research on sickle cell disease. Banton focused on the biomechanical underpinnings of the disease but also the sociological context, serving in that time as a CSPC Presidential Fellow and science policy intern at the National Science Foundation. Banton eventually earned her PhD in biomedical engineering and joined the Regulatory Affairs teams first at Johnson and Johnson, and then at Becton, Dickinson & Company. In those roles, Banton supported innovation for both companies’ global surgical medical device businesses.
