Dr. Johnathan Tune, PhD is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Physiology and Anatomy at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. His research focuses on regulation of coronary blood flow in health and disease, with particular emphasis on mechanisms of coronary dysfunction in the setting of obesity and diabetes. Dr. Tune has served on study sections for the American Heart Association and the Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health and serves on the editorial board of leading cardiovascular journals, including the American Journal of Physiology Heart and Circulatory Physiology, and Basic Research in Cardiology. His research has been continuously funded by the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, Eli Lilly and Company, and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Tune has also received numerous awards for teaching and research, including the Henry Pickering Bowditch Award from the American Physiological Society.
