Juan is a PhD candidate in biomedical engineering at Rutgers University. His research focuses on understanding the synergistic relationship between Muller glia and endothelial cells to regulate the integrity of the inner blood retinal barrier under diabetic conditions. Juan obtained his bachelor of biomedical engineering from The City College of New York and a Master of engineering from Rutgers University. He is currently on his 5th year of PhD program and plans to graduate in December 2023. Juan is insterested in networking with peers in the field of retinal research, microfluidics, and diabetes. Likewise, he is interested in making a transition into the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.
