Garrett Beeghly is a PhD candidate in the Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University. His graduate research aims to understand how hypertrophic expansion of mammary adipocytes in obesity impacts breast cancer risk and prognosis. Garrett completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Virginia and worked at the University of Cambridge before beginning his graduate studies at Cornell. He has received a Whitaker Fellowship from the Institute of International Education, a Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation, and a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award from the National Cancer Institute. Outside of the lab, Garrett enjoys baking pastries, making drip coffee, and hiking in new places.
