UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DAVIS
Dixon, California, United States
My name is Carissa Garrity and I'm a 4th year Ph. D candidate at the University of California Davis with an emphasis in Pathobiology. I am specialized in cartilage tissue biology and cartilage tissue immunogenicity. My main focus is developing immune universal tissue-engineered cartilage allo-transplants (off-the-shelf ready) by genetic knockout of B2M with CRISPR/Cas9 technology. Other areas of focus during my graduate studies have touched on cartilage tissue biomechanics/ material science, primary and stem cell culture, bioinformatics, and histopathology. I am enthusiastic about all things science and a self-motivated and proactive researcher.
My passions and hobbies include all things ranch life. I enjoy my spare time horseback riding, hiking, working cattle, and spending time with my dog.
