Ella Stimson received her Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from University of California, San Diego, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Biomedical Engineering at Oregon Health & Science University and works within Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research where she is mentored by Dr. Stuart Ibsen. Her work encompasses the development and utilization of new technologies for liquid biopsy-based detection of early cancer. She is particularly interested in the signal-amplifying abilities of proteolytic enzymes and their involvement in cancer development. Ella is driven to apply the signal-amplifying properties of protease-based detection to ovarian cancer, where early detection is an unmet need.
