Graduate Research Assistant
University of Connecticut Health Center
West Hartford, Connecticut, United States
I am a 5th year PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Connecticut. Along with my PhD, I am getting a graduate certificate in college instruction at the University of Connecticut. I did my bachelor's in Materials Science and Engineering the North Carolina State University. I am currently studying the impacts of metabolic acidosis on murine bone. I analyze the femurs from mice that have undergone an acidotic challenge throught the use of a graded ammonium chloride diet. The mechanical, structural, cellular, and compostional properties of the femurs are measured using three-point bend testing, microcomputed tomography, histology and RNA sequencing, and Raman spectroscopy. After getting my PhD, I hope to obtain a teaching faculty position at a primarily undergraduate institution.
