I am a thrid-year graduate student (2023-2024, PhD) at the University of California, Davis in the department of Biomedical Engineering. I am a member of both the Simon and George labs, and my thesis project involves using microfludic devices to create a human skin-on-a-chip platform. With this design, we aim to uncover the mechanisms of extramedullary granulopoiesis, a phenomenon in which human hematopoietic stem an progenitor cells populate skin tissue, outside their normal bone marrow niche, to produce neutrophils locally to fight acute infections.
