Ph. D student
City University of Hong Kong
Hong Kong, Hong Kong
My name is Jiang Wenxin, a Ph. D candidate from Department of Biomedical Engineering, City University of Hong Kong. My supervisor is Dr. CHEN Chia-Hung. I received my B.Eng. in chemical engineering and technology from Dalian University of Technology. After that, I got my M.Eng. in chemical engineering and technology from Zhejiang University, specializing in polymerization engineering. Now, as a Ph. D candidate in biomedical enginering, my research field is mainly about microfluidics and synthetic biology. To develop a high-throughput screening technology for synthetic biology, I am trying to construct an aptamer-sensor labelled alginate microbead assay, encapsulating single recombinant strain in microbeads for incubation and sensing of secretion. This approach offers a flexible tool to screen a mutation libarary via flow cytometry and identify critical mutants that can potentially produce a wide range of valuable chemicals towards advanced bio-fabrication.
