Samuel Chen is a 2nd year Ph.D. student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan. With a background in mechanical engineering, he is interested in engineering systems with biological building blocks for applications in biology and medicine. Currently, he is a part of Dr. Allen Liu's research group working on recreating exocytosis in synthetic cells. He is also involved in work on breast cancer mechanobiology and the effects of microgravity on human bone cells.
