Ph.D. Candidate
University of California, Berkeley
Berkeley, California, United States
Andre hails proudly from Lima, Peru, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate and Ford Predoctoral Fellow in Mechanical Engineering at UC Berkeley. He is grateful to be a part of two supportive research labs: the Molecular Cell Biomechanics Lab and Berkeley Biomechanics Lab, where he is empowered to do his best work. Andre’s research lies within the realm of computational biophysics, where he investigates cell adhesion dynamics using tools like the finite element method and molecular dynamics. He is interested in understanding how nanoscale structural shifts in integrin, a cell adhesion molecule, alter whole-cell mechanics. He builds multiscale models that offer spatiotemporal insights into how cells may sense their outside environment via focal adhesions. In his free time, Andre enjoys being active in nature and the surrounding community.
