Daniel Palmer (BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Biomedical Engineering, Colorado State University) is a fifth-year PhD candidate in the Guilak Lab at Washington University in St. Louis. Daniel studies the intersection of synthetic biology, mechanobiology, and tissue engineering to develop cellular systems for self-regulated joint disease therapy and prevention. Alongside his thesis work, Daniel is an instructor of record for an accredited college program, the Prison Education Project at WashU, where he teaches courses such as Introduction to STEM and Historical and Philosophical Aspects of STEM. Daniel also enjoys long-distance running, reading sci-fi and fantasy novels, and building Lego models.
