Nehal I. Abu-Lail received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology. She earned her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2004. She is Professor and Interim Chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Chemical Engineering at the University of Texas San Antonio. Prior to that, she was an associate professor at the Gene and Linda Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering at Washington State University. Her research is focused on fundamental understanding of physiochemical cellular properties and interactions in environmental and biomedical systems with two main foci on articular cartilage tissue engineering and bacterial adhesion to a variety of surfaces. She has published over 60 technical articles and presented her research in over 200 national meetings. She is currently teaching “Transport Phenomena I and II” courses in Chemical Engineering.
