Cecilia Villegas Novoa, Ph.D., is an Acting Instructor Staff at the University of Washington (UW) Seattle Department of Bioengineering. Before her staff position, she received her Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering from the Technological Institute of Mexico, Durango, followed by postdoctoral research at UW in the Allbritton Lab. Cecilia specializes in tissue engineering with primary cells, 3D simulacra of the human intestine with crypt and villus architectures polarized with stem cells and differentiated cells, and her work focuses on goblet cells and their mucus secretion and enteroendocrine cells and hormone secretion.
