Victor worked his way through community colleges, transferred to the University of Southern California (USC), and completed his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2019. He continued at USC for his Ph.D. and is currently in his fifth year as a graduate student. He currently works in the Laboratory for Medical Analytical Devices (MAD Lab) under the supervision of Dr. Maral Mousavi. His research involves low-cost electrochemical diagnostic devices for biomarkers for chronic and infectious diseases such as COVID-19 and liver failure and tools for intuitive nutrition monitoring. He has a special emphasis on accessible novel materials such as fabric, paper, and wood as the material basis for his sensors. He also has a special interest in mentorship, teaching, and scientific communication, and received the USC Viterbi School of Engineering Jenny Wang Excellence in Teaching Award in 2022.
