Graduate Research Assistant
Texas A&M University Biomedical Engineering Department
Abigail (Abbie) Clevenger is a doctoral candidate studying biomedical engineering under the guidance of Dr. Shreya Raghavan at Texas A&M University. Her current dissertation research explores the effect of mechanics on colorectal cancer growth and invasion and her findings have been shared through numerous national conferences and peer-reviewed publications. Her work is centered around the use of her novel peristalsis bioreactor that can model the physiological forces found in the native colon environment. This work will ultimately impact the fields of mechanobiology and colorectal cancer research to improve patient outcomes. Abbie also spearheaded the Biomedical Engineering course offered during Aggie STEM camp for the past 2 summers and was an integral part of the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Student Association’s children’s book project, “ABCs of Biomedical Engineering”. She thoroughly enjoys sharing her love of biomedical engineering with K-12 students to inspire a love of STEM. Abbie’s passion about education also expands to the on-campus community with her involvement in both classroom teaching and mentoring undergraduate students in the lab. Abbie’s goal following her PhD is to become an academic scientist, where she can impact the biomedical research community and train future leaders in the field.
