Alan Taylor, Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, serves as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Texas at Arlington. A former T32 Fellow specializing in nanotechnology, Dr. Taylor has a rich research history in the development and characterization of innovative bio-materials for tissue engineering applications. His Ph.D. work centered around the creation of a polyurethane-based electrospun membrane with nanofibrous structures, which was functionalized to enhance conductivity and bio-activity. This research has shown promise in advancing the maturation of cardiomyocytes, offering a potential therapeutic avenue for post-myocardial infarction treatment.
In his current role, Dr. Taylor is focused on synthesizing bio-adhesives aimed at the treatment and repair of vaginal prolapse following traumatic birth. This work represents a significant step forward in addressing a critical healthcare challenge and improving the quality of life for affected women.
