Dr. Samuel Acuña is a Research Assistant Professor in the Bioengineering department at George Mason University and is a researcher for the Center for Adaptive Systems of Brain-Body Interactions. He is a biomechanical engineer interested in rehabilitation engineering and human-centered product design. He develops new technologies to address movement disorders that develop after an injury, such as stroke, amputation, or traumatic brain injury, and is particularly interested in solving engineering problems for the hospital & healthcare industry with innovative and emerging technology, such as virtual reality, ultrasound, and noninvasive neural stimulation. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2019.
