Graduate Research Assistant
University of Utah
Amanda Wood is a PhD student conducting research with Dr. Jessica Kramer at the University of Utah. After completing a Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia, Amanda moved to the beautiful Salt Lake City to study mucins, the glycoproteins found in mucus. She aims to understand the contributions of individual sugars and amino acids found on natural mucins using synthetic mucin mimetics in disease model studies to discern mucin involvement in immune response. When Amanda is not in the lab, she enjoys rock climbing, hiking, swimming, and fixing her car that is older than her undergraduate student.
