Katie Bender is a senior at Clemson University where she is majoring in Bioengineering with a concentration in Biomaterials and a minor in Biological Sciences. Her interest in undergraduate research began with her involvement in the Clemson Creative Inquiry program during the Fall of 2019. Katie has since been involved in four different undergraduate research projects in three different departments at Clemson. She believes in the importance of a multidisciplinary research approach in order to include all aspects and mindsets. Katie's primary research is done within the Bioengineering depart in collaboration with BMW Manufacturing and focuses on the use of novel hand tools to redistribute forces during high repetition and high force associate tasks to avoid injury. When she is not working on undergraduate research, Katie enjoys being an active member in Clemson's chapter of Alpha Eta Mu Beta National Biomedical Engineering Honor Society and the Clemson Bioengineering Organization. She is also involved in Medtronic's ACE intern program in preparation to pursue a career as a clinical specialist in the cardiac rhythm management division after graduation.
