Melany Gutierrez-Hernandez is a PhD candidate in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Florida International University. She obtained her B.E. in Telecommunications and Electronics in 2017 at the Technological University of Havana. She received a M.A. in Mathematics and Scientific Computation at Bowling Green State University in 2020. Her research interests are in electromagnetics, antennas, RF backscattering, neural recorders, and computational methods. Her specific PhD research topic is to develop battery-less and wireless medical implants for neural signals collection. She works close to biomedical professors in the validation of the design in vivo. She assists in the implantation surgeries and measures somatosensory evoked potentials in swines.
