Myeongsoo Kim is a dedicated and passionate researcher with a profound interest in the field of biomedical photoacoustic imaging applications using novel exogenous imaging contrast agents. He completed his B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering at Korea University in 2018 and received his M.S. degree in Biomicrosystem Technology at Korea University in 2020. Currently, he is a Ph.D. candidate in the Bioengineering program at the Georgia Institute of Technology, working under the guidance of Dr. Stanislav Emelianov.
His research focuses on designing photoacoustic exogenous contrast nanoagents capable of delivering high imaging contrast with longitudinal stability to specific regions of interest in vivo, such as tumors. The ultimate goal of his Ph.D. degree is to engineer immune cells, particularly T cells, by labeling them with the developed imaging contrast nanoagents to achieve advanced adoptive cell therapy. Through the integration of nanoagents into immune cells, these cells can acquire optical properties and, thus, generate high imaging contrast in vivo while preserving their essential functions. This innovative approach holds significant promise for enhancing cell-based therapies and revolutionizing the field of biomedical imaging applications.
