Postdoctoral Researcher
University of Nebraska Lincoln
Dr. Omer Sadak, Ph.D
Innovative Researcher in Nanomaterials and Biosensors
Dr. Omer Sadak began his academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Zonguldak Bulent Ecevit University in 2010. Then, he earned his MS degree (2014) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on dendritic polymers-based nanocarriers for targeted drug delivery. He completed his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019 under the supervision of Professor Sundaram Gunasekaran with an emphasis on graphene-based nanomaterials in various applications including electrochemical energy storage devices, biosensors and wastewater treatment. From May – December 2019, he worked as Senior Scientist at Marine Essence Biosciences, and Senior Researcher. at Ardahan University, Turkey from February 2020 – September 2021. Dr. Sadak currently work as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Nebraska Lincoln in the Biological systems Engineering focusing on single-walled carbon nanotube based optical biosensors for the detection of small molecule biomarkers. He has published more than 25 research articles in high impact journals including Biosensors and Bioelectronics, Carbon, and Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, two book chapters and a US patent. His independent research plan is inspired by both his graduate and postdoctoral studies and will investigate topics at the interface of biosensors and bioelectronics with a focus on human health, food, and environmental monitoring.
